City Government
Click here to visit the CIty of Broken Bow web site December 2009 2009 has been a good year for Broken Bow. We have experienced controlled and intelligent growth. We are becoming more of a regional shopping center with increased sales tax receipts and we appreciate the area people for supporting our local retailers. The people of Broken Bow have worked hard to clean up neighborhoods, tear down old buildings, and imporve the attractiviness of our town. The positive Team attitude of the citizens and increased Pride in our community continues to grow. We consistently receive compliments about our town and this is a direct result of the attitude of the people of Broken Bow. As Mayor, I am very proud to be part of the City Government Team and we are very thankful for the cooperative attitude of the citizens. In June of 2009, Tony Tolstedt was hired as the City Administrator and he has been a great addition to the team. Tony will write about all the capital improvements that have been worked on and completed this year. He will also give a brief breakdown of our current financial situation. Have a safe and happy holiday season, Mayor McMeen
Message from Tony Tolstedt, City Adminstrator, 2009 has been an outstanding year for the City of Broken Bow. We have experienced positive growth along with the completion of multiple community improvements. We continue to develop as a regional center with an eye on future development and improved service provision. Through cooperation and community pride, we have managed to greatly improve our community through service and capital projects. Over the last year, the City has also undertaken a number of capital projects geared towards improving access, safety, and recreation within Broken Bow. The "Quiet Zone" project rendered three of the five proposed crossings quiet over the last year. The Melham sports complex is nearing completion with the expectation of play in the spring. Not to be overlooked, the sidewalk from the Catholic Church to Pamida is complete and will provide safe access to current and future development on the west side of Broken Bow as we continue to grow. As the City of Broken Bow looks toward another fine year, we take stock of our financial position in these uncertain times. This year's budget was developed with a conservative mentality. Broken Bow continues to hold strong with its sales tax numbers. In addition to stong sales tax receipts, the property assessment showed 3% growth over the last year. These indicators, conservative budgeting, and proper budget management will help see our community through this trying time. I wish you the very best the new year has to offer. Have a safe and happy holiday season. Sincerely, Tony Tolstedt
The Broken Bow City Goverment Offices are located in the Municipal Building.
