Infrastructure

The Broken Bow Municipal System retails electricity in the city. Approximately 10% of the electricity is generated by 6 municipally owned generating units with a total capacity of 8,750 kW, the largest unit is 3,500 kW.

The other 90% of electricity is purchased from the Bureau of Reclamation, MEAN, and the Nebraska Municipal Power Pool.

Substations include:
  • 3 transformers totaling 7,500 KVA/69,000 to 12,470 volts.
  • 1 transformer totaling 3,700 KVA/69,000 to 12,500 volts fee 11 circuits branching out to different areas of the city.
  • Substation two-way interconnections tied to the statewide grid.
