The Prairie Pioneer Center serves as an activity center for the local senior citizens. Having been built entirely by local donations, it serves an average of 90 people daily at its congregate meals, for individuals over 60. The center also provides meals on wheels for shut-ins and is responsible for organizing the "Chore and Handyman Service", a housekeeping and lawn care service in every town in Custer County.
